Kendriya Vidyalaya in the highlight

In the heart of Moscow, amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, lies the Embassy of India School, Kendriya Vidyalaya. Since its inception in 1987, this institution has been more than just a centre for education; it stands as a beacon of the vibrant Indian community thriving in the city.

What began as a modest establishment has flourished over the years, now accommodating a diverse student body of 270 learners spanning from classes I to XII, offering both Science and Commerce streams. Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E), New Delhi, the school follows the curriculum set forth by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi, India.

As the sun rose on the 1st of June 2024, anticipation filled the air. It was the day of the school’s annual function, a grand event that had been eagerly awaited by all. The auditorium buzzed with excitement as parents, students, and staff alike prepared for the festivities ahead, a culmination of weeks of hard work by both students and teachers to put forth a show that would leave a lasting impression.

Among the esteemed guests, the Ambassador of India to Russia, H.E. Vinay Kumar, graced the occasion as the chief guest, adding an air of prestige and honour. The traditional lighting of the lamp by H.E. Vinay Kumar marked the official commencement of the event, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and wisdom.

The program kicked off with a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana, a prayer seeking the blessings of the goddess of wisdom. The melodious voices of the students echoed through the hall, setting the tone for the day ahead. Following this, the youngest members of the school took to the stage, their faces beaming with excitement as they performed a charming welcome dance, greeting the audience with infectious enthusiasm.

Then it was time for Mr. Bighneswar Patnaik, the beloved principal of the school, to address the gathering. With a twinkle in his eye and pride in his voice, he spoke of the journey of the school and the remarkable achievements of its students. His words resonated with warmth and encouragement, filling the hearts of all present with a sense of pride and belonging.

As the morning unfolded, the auditorium came alive with a kaleidoscope of cultural performances, each class showcasing a different dance form from around the world. From the vibrant rhythms of tribal dance to the graceful movements of Japanese and French dances, the students transported the audience on a journey across continents, celebrating the beauty of diversity and the spirit of unity.

But amidst the jubilation, there were moments of reflection. The students of classes IX and X took centre stage with a poignant mime show, depicting the devastating impact of war and the importance of peace. Meanwhile, their older peers from classes XI and XII presented a powerful skit, shining a light on the values of compassion, empathy, and equality.

As the day drew to a close, it was time to honour the achievements of the students. The prize distribution ceremony was a moment of joy and pride as students were recognized for their hard work, talent, and dedication. And it wasn’t just the students who were applauded – the teachers, too, received well-deserved recognition for their unwavering support and guidance.

As the final notes of the collective dance performance filled the auditorium, there was a sense of unity and togetherness that lingered in the air. At that moment, as students, parents, and teachers joined hands in celebration, it was clear that the Embassy of India School is more than just a place of education – it is a family, bound together by the bonds of friendship, love, and a shared passion for learning.
